American Education: Past, Present and Future!

Join us for a relaxed in-person session where we’ll explore the ins and outs of America’s educational system, with a special focus on civic education and America’s story as we approach the nation’s 250th anniversary.

As part of its participation in the America 250 Civics Education Coalition, Be The People Project is hosting a series of events this year to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and promote meaningful civic education.

Enjoy a delicious lunch, good conversation, and learn from Albert Paulsson, a former teacher with over 27 years of classroom experience who now serves as Content Director for the America 250 Civics Education Coalition. You’ll be amazed at his knowledge and insights, with plenty of time for interaction, questions, and discussion.

It’s a great chance to connect, learn, and share ideas with others who are curious about education and civic life in America. Don’t miss this engaging and informative get-together!

He taught Advanced Placement U.S. Government, U.S. History, Civics, and Economics for 27 years in New Jersey and New York City. As a high school teacher, he wrote, instructed, and coordinated district civics programs and prepared students for the state and national We the People competitions. He also organized and led an annual 5-day program for approximately 150 high school juniors to Washington, D.C., with a focus on service to one’s country.

For his work inside and outside of the classroom, Mr. Paulsson was awarded High School Teacher of the Year by the American Lawyers Alliance and received the Outstanding Educator Award by the University of Chicago. In addition, he has developed curriculum for many organizations including FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression), The Woodson Center, The Remembrance Society and The Mill Center at UATX. He completed his undergraduate and graduate training at The College of New Jersey, is married, and is the father of 3 children.
